Great is Thy Faithfulness

May 27, 2026 By Hephzibah Stephen

Bible Reading: Psalm 128:1-6

God enabled us to celebrate His faithfulness in our fifty years of life together last Sunday.  We can say with confidence that we have not been consumed because His mercies have been new every morning and His compassions have never failed us.

Fifty years of married life is a testimony to the faithfulness of God.

Looking back over the years, I can clearly see the hand of God sustaining, guiding, protecting, and providing for us every day of our life. God blessed us with two sons and three granddaughters, and we are eternally grateful for them and their families.

The secret of a lasting marriage is never the absence of problems, but it is a testimony of the presence of God in the midst of them. We have gone through seasons of sorrow, disappointment, misunderstandings, and tears. We have gone through times of sickness, financial struggle, anxiety about the future, and burdens too heavy to carry alone. Yet through every season, God remained faithful.  God graciously taught us to endure, to sacrifice, to forgive, and to continue loving even when life became difficult. We are grateful to God for His faithfulness.

The Bible says in Ecclesiastes 4:12 that a threefold cord is not quickly broken.  Our life is a true testimony of that.  With Christ in our married life, we were able to weather the storms of life. The Lord is faithful despite our weaknesses and shortcomings. No one is perfect, and so there is no perfect marriage.  Every marriage is a testimony of God’s sustaining hand. One year or fifty years, we have to remember that marriage is a covenant with God and walk with Him daily.

My friend, whether your journey is just beginning or whether you have walked together for many years, remember God is faithful.  Life together calls for great adjustments from both sides.  It is not easy, but remember, with God all things are possible.  We can make a new beginning even today with God’s help.   Our God is a God of second chances!  The same God who guided you yesterday will sustain you today and graciously uphold you tomorrow. Trust Him in every season of life.

Prayer:  Heavenly Father, thank You for Your faithfulness through the years. Thank You for sustaining us through joys and sorrows, victories and failures, abundance and struggle. Help us continue to walk together in love, humility, and gratitude till the end. Amen.
